PawFind ("we", "us") operates an online pet marketplace and a free lost-and-found board for users in the United States. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the platform you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and general location (city, state, ZIP) so we can verify you and show relevant nearby listings.
- Listings & reports: the content you post, including photos, videos, descriptions, pricing, and pet health information.
- Messages: messages you exchange with other users through our in-app messaging.
- Payment information: listing-fee payments are processed by a third-party PCI-compliant payment processor. We do not store your full card number — we retain only a transaction reference, amount, and status.
- Usage & device data: IP address, browser type, and activity logs used for security, fraud prevention, and improving the service.
- Approximate location: if you choose "use my location", we use your coordinates only to sort and filter nearby listings. Location is never required.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and to verify your email and phone.
- To publish your listings and reports and connect you with other users.
- To process listing-fee payments and send receipts.
- To send transactional emails (payment receipts, listing status, messages, security and verification notices) and optional notifications you can control in your dashboard.
- To moderate content, enforce our Terms, and keep the community safe.
3. Payment handling
Listing fees are charged for the advertisement, not the pet. The actual sale or adoption of an animal happens directly between buyer and seller, off-platform. Card details are entered on the processor's secure page and are never seen or stored by us.
4. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with: (a) our payment processor and email/SMS providers to deliver the service; (b) other users, limited to what you choose to publish and the contact details you reveal within a conversation; and (c) law enforcement where required by law.
5. Your choices & rights
- Update your profile and notification preferences anytime from your dashboard.
- Turn off non-critical emails (critical payment, security, and verification emails always send).
- Request deletion of your account from your settings. On deletion, your listings and reports are removed or anonymized.
6. Data retention & security
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption of sensitive credentials at rest. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
7. Children
The platform is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
